About the Maze Toolkit

When you’re feeling nervous or worried about speaking out the Maze Toolkit will help you to get your point of view across. Each tool can be used to make sure other people hear and understand what you have to say.

The tools are particularly useful for getting your views heard at meetings but can be used anytime you have something to say.

These tools were designed by young people at Maze for you to use. How you do this is up to you but here are some suggestions

Use this tool anytime, but especially when you want someone to know what is important to you.

Tool 10 - It’s my meeting.pdf

You have a right for your views to be heard and considered at any meeting about you. Use this tool to plan for your meeting. Use it to say what you would like to be discussed at the meeting and for any statements you wish to make.

Tool 2 - People I can talk to.pdf

When talking about your problems or asking for help and support you need to feel comfortable with who you are talking to. This tool is for you to use to think about who that is now or who it could be in the future.

Use this tool when you want to change something. You can either fill it in on your own or with someone who you trust. Then decide who would be the best person to show it to, or just keep it for yourself if you prefer.

If you are on medication then this tool can help you to find out more about it. Ask the person prescribing your medication to help you answer the questions.

Use this tool when you first meet with anyone who will be offering you help or support in any way. You can ask the questions and fill it in yourself, or ask them to fill it in and return it to you
